EMCC Foundation
At Bangor Federal Credit Union, we’ve taken steps to invest in that future by partnering with the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation, a nonprofit that supports the students, programs, equipment, and facilities of EMCC, to offer the Bangor Federal Credit Union Student Support Scholarship.
Eastern Maine Community College is a 72-acre campus in Bangor offering students a variety of programs of study. According to the EMCC Foundation website, “The average cost of attendance (tuition and fees) at EMCC is $3,500 per year plus room, board, books, tools, clinical fees, and supplies. Although the cost of attendance at EMCC is much lower than other Maine colleges and universities, this cost creates a burden for students striving to achieve a post-secondary education.
Our partnership with the EMCC Foundation began in 2016 and we contribute annually to the Emergency Scholarship Fund. With our help, the EMCC Foundation has been able to provide several students with funding to assist with exam fees and tools for the electrician and auto mechanic trade programs.
In order to be eligible for support, students must require emergency financial need and meet the following criteria:
- Non-traditional students presently living in Maine in Penobscot County, Hancock County, or Waldo County.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Recipient demonstrates good, solid effort in their academic career.
