At Bangor Federal Credit Union, we take pride in giving back to our community. In addition to the community service projects Bangor Federal participates in, such as Pumpkins in the Park, the Feztival of Trees, and the Ending Hunger in Maine campaign, our employees also give back by volunteering their time to local organizations.
Steve Clark, the President/CEO of Bangor Federal, volunteers at the University of Maine Business School and John Bapst Memorial High School, while Basil Closson, our Chief Financial Officer, donates his time as the Treasurer of Cove Way Road Association and is actively on the Steering Committee for the New England Financial Executive Committee (NEFEC). Basil is also the working treasurer at the Bangor Chapter of Credit Unions.
“I wanted to give back to an organization that made a huge impact on my life,” Basil said. “I coached youth athletics for many years. I also volunteered on the local school board, road association, and numerous professional organizations where I can share what I know.”
Barbara Stacey, our Chief Operating Officer, volunteers for the Goodwill Riders Snowmobile Club, and Tina Morrill, our Marketing Director, donates her time to the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation.
Lastly, Kate, finds joy in giving her time to a local boy scout troop and the athletic boosters at Hampden Academy. She is also a committee member for the University of Maine Marching Band and Dance Team.
“My son Jonathan plays soccer with Hampden Academy so helping out with the athletic boosters (concessions) is a way to give back to the community that helps our kids,” Kate said. “With the same idea in mind, my daughter Emma is on the UMaine Dance Team, which is part of the marching band. As a member of Parents and Friends of the UMaine Marching Band, we provide meals for the dancers and the musicians before the performances as they have very long days during football season. I have also enjoyed helping out in my son and husband’s Boy Scout troop.”
In addition to the time our employees spend volunteering for the community, our Board of Directors is also comprised of volunteers that are elected by the membership of the Credit Union and serve for 3-year terms.
At Bangor Federal, giving back is part of what we do.
